Sometimes Dreams Do Come True
When my dad became ill, my then boyfriend was only 20 years old, he not only stood beside us three girls but became my dad’s legs when he could no longer use them. When we lost a child he held me in his lap and rocked me until I cried myself to sleep. When my dad passed away he literally held me together and held me up. When I doubt myself he tells me how amazing I am. When I say I can’t, he helps me prove that I can, he is my biggest cheerleader (rivaling even my mother y’all) and I am his biggest fan. He is the perfect example for my sons of what a husband and father should be and he is the guidepost for what my daughter will look for in a man. Don’t get me wrong y’all, this is by far a perfect man and some days he literally drives me crazy. But if I sat here and tried to list all of his annoying habits it would sound totally stupid, for no trivial thing he does badly could ever negate all of the things he does so well.
I was in high school when I decided that I wanted him to be mine and I worked my ass of for him y’all! Not even kidding, ya girl put in some hours! More than 26 years ago it all came to fruition when he called me from college and asked me if he could take me to my senior prom. He’s been my person every single day since. We’ve been through a lot of ups and a lot of downs. There’s been days when we wondered if we would make it but more days knowing we would. Some days I wonder if he will decide I’m not worth all the trouble and give up on me, gosh I hope not y’all!
A high school friend took this picture, without us knowing, at our hometown Christmas parade. He recently sent it to us and I couldn’t love it more. Because y’all, every little girl dreams of having a guy look at her just like this and I guess dreams do come true. Thanks babe for always being there and loving me when I’m unlovable.
